If you’re suffering from chronic heartburn, you may have a common condition called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or acid reflux. Valley Care Clinics now offers the minimally invasive transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) procedure to treat GERD.
The TIF procedure typically takes less than an hour and requires no incision. TIF patients may experience these additional benefits:
- Patients can usually return to normal activities in a few days
- Most patients no longer have to take proton pump inhibitors, which have been linked to esophageal cancer and osteoporosis with long-term use
- Patients can begin to eat foods they could not previously tolerate
- Hiatal hernias can often be treated just before the TIF procedure during the same anesthesia setting
